I'm Roman Baptiste, a high school student from Danville, Illinois, and I started STEMmed, a student-led initiative focused on making science and medicine more accessible to underserved communities.
Right now, rural areas like mine are struggling with major healthcare gaps: limited clinics, overworked providers, and many without basic care. I'm raising funds to support real, boots-on-the-ground efforts:
• Donating care kits to local shelters and clinics
• Creating health guides and sleep kits for unhoused populations
• Funding outreach projects that educate and serve rural families
This is personal to me. I've seen how limited access can hurt entire communities. With your help, I want to be part of the solution, starting right here in Vermilion County.
Whether it's $1 or $100, every dollar goes toward supplies, outreach, and building a healthier future, led by students and driven by service.
Thank you for supporting this mission. We're just getting started.
