My sweet soul dog Ruger is going through an unexpected and traumatic event. We rushed him to the emergency vet last night where they found a large splenic mass that is bleeding internally. He is in emergency surgery today to attempt to remove the mass, where it will then be sent off to check for cancer. If all goes well, they are wanting him to stay overnight at the emergency vet to be monitored for arrhythmias as well as a high possibility of needing a blood transfusion from blood loss in today’s surgery. This stay at the ER is extremely costly and extremely necessary, where they have all of the needed equipment to ensure he is safe and stable. Ruger has already been through so much in his 8 years; he is so tough. He always seems to beat the odds.
