Hi, my name is Taylor Dykes, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my brother-in-law, Rudy Valladares, and his beautiful family.

Rudy and his wife, Jessica, will celebrate 9 years of marriage this June, and they have been together for 14 years! They are the true definition of high school sweethearts who built a beautiful life full of love, laughter and two amazing boys, Benjamin and Luke, who absolutely adore their dad and look up to him in every way.

Rudy has proudly served as a police officer for UTA Campus Police, protecting and helping others. Now, he and his family are facing a battle no one could have prepared for.

On October 12, one day after his 29th birthday, Rudy was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer that spread to multiple areas. He underwent surgery, 4 cycles of chemotherapy, and for a time, we believed he had overcome it. But on July 14, 2025, everything changed when doctors discovered a 6 cm brain tumor, which was confirmed to be related to his original cancer.

Since then, Rudy has endured more than most could imagine. Brain surgery, radiation, 2 cycles of high-dose chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, and countless transfusions. After months of fighting, the family received hopeful news that he was in remission.

Unfortunately, that hope was short lived. A recent scan on April 24th revealed another tumor that grew rapidly, leading to a second brain surgery on April 26, 2026. A new MRI scan on April 27th has now shown multiple Mets on his brain. Rudy’s options may be limited, but he’s still fighting and willing to try anything available. We’re not giving up hope.

Rudy has exhausted all of his time off during his recovery. Jessica will be out of work to spend this time by Rudy’s side and focus on making meaningful memories with their boys during this time.

We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden of daily living expenses, medical related costs, and to allow Jessica the time she needs to be present with Rudy and their children.
