Support Rudy Giarletta's Journey to Health

Rudy Giarletta is a married father of two daughters living in Staten Island with his wife of 30 years, Kim, a paraprofessional in D75 currently out on workers compensation and waiting to have surgery due to a student altercation. Rudy is a Network Designer / Project Manager who has been out of work for months while suffering from a kidney infection which moved through his body during dialysis. He then had a new TESIO put in for Dialysis and which caused him to go septic - either due to an unsanitary device from the vascular center or because the actual Tesio contained bacteria. The infection has affected his brain, causing seizures and halting his breathing. His blood pressure and heart rate cannot be stabilized and he was on a ventilator for 6 days and in the ICU for 13 days. Because he has stents in his heart, the bacteria settled there requiring him to be on IV antibiotics for 6-8 weeks. The prognosis is unknown since the infection has affected his brain and heart to the point where he will require occupational therapy, physical therapy, memory and speech care. Rudy went from being a vibrant and active man to being bed bound and unable to perform the most simple of daily tasks for himself. His family is humbly asking for any assistance you might be able to provide with their ever mounting medical bills. Bringing Rudy back to his healthy, former self where he can return to work to sustain his family is their top priority. Thank you for your kindness and generosity in learning his story.
