Dear Potential Sponsor,
My name is Rubertene (Ruby) Anesia Williams, and I am writing to humbly request your support as I pursue my lifelong dream of earning a Ph.D. in General Psychology with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
Having served for over eight years with the Department of Family Protective Services, I have seen firsthand the deep and lasting effects that trauma can have on children and their development into adulthood. This experience has inspired me to deepen my expertise so that I can better serve these vulnerable populations—not only by providing counseling but also by contributing to long-term solutions that help individuals heal, grow, and thrive.
I have been accepted into the doctoral program at Grand Canyon University, where I previously earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Services with a focus on Grief and Bereavement Counseling (Class of 2024). This next step in my academic journey will allow me to explore how trauma affects brain function and to develop more effective, compassionate strategies that empower individuals—particularly children and veterans—with tools for lifelong resilience.
Unfortunately, I have exhausted my VA educational benefits and face significant financial barriers that may prevent me from continuing. Your sponsorship would help relieve the financial burden of tuition and allow me to focus on my studies, professional work, and family while giving back to the San Antonio community and surrounding regions.
My goal is to continue serving as a counselor or therapist either with the Department of Family Protective Services or the Department of Veterans Affairs. I want to help children and veterans visualize brighter futures by providing safe, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care. With your help, I can take this crucial step toward making a lasting impact.
Thank you for considering my request. Please see the attached documentation outlining my academic plans and professional intent. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you further.
With deep gratitude,
Rubertene (Ruby) Anesia Williams
