Support Ruby Jean's Transition into Hospice care

My name is Jennie, and I made this page to help with the transitional costs that are coming with my grandmother's medical needs. Her name is Ruby Jean Kreger, and she just turned 72 on September 26th.

She had aortic stenosis and had open-heart surgery in 2017 to replace a valve. She had complications with the surgery, stopped breathing, and couldn't wake up for several days. Ever since, she's had to be on 24/7 oxygen.

In the past month, her breathing has been more and more labored. She's fallen 7 times this year alone and has had multiple trips to the ER.

On Tuesday, October 1st, I felt something was off and checked in on her multiple times. I checked the security camera in our living room, and her face was pink/purple. I called her, and she said her oxygen was low and it felt like something heavy was on her chest. I immediately left work and called 911 so the paramedics could meet me at home.

She was admitted into St. Luke's Meridian, and multiple tests were run. The findings are that the replacement heart valve has deteriorated. The cardiologist and cardiothoracic doctors weighed options and determined that Grandma would not survive surgery.

My grandma is now in rehab at Aspen Transitional Rehab in Meridian until she can get up and move safely. This is the beginning of her palliative care. It's so hard, but her life expectancy now is 6 months.

We need the funds to get our home cleared and cleaned out before she gets released from Aspen Transitional Rehab.

There's a lot to do, and we also need to get a bedroom set up so her kids have somewhere to stay while visiting her.

I will also be taking a lot of time off work to be with her and help her. As time progresses, she will get worse and have to move into hospice.

This is an extremely difficult time for everyone, and if anyone knows my grandmother, they know that asking for help is very difficult.
