Hi there! I am raising funds for my brother, Ruben Medina. He's 66 yrs old and was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in April of 2024. He is such an incredible fighter, so he's stable right now, thank you God! But funds are running out and social security isn't cutting it. He travels 4 hrs to Skokie, IL to get his chemo treatments at the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment. When he goes for chemo, it's a 3-day process, so he needs to stay in Skokie until he's done. Although he's getting a discount for his, hotel stays, through the American Cancer Society, it's still costly. In addition to his chemo there are other treatments that can go alongside of it that would be very beneficial for him, but the costs are anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000 per treatment and are not covered by insurance. He recently had a one week stay at the hospital. He went in through emergency because the pain was getting to be too much. Turns out he had a blockage in his bile duct. They performed a procedure (ERCP), where they put stents in to help with the flow of whatever needs to flow and they also gave him a nerve blocker for pain. He pulled through like a champ, and is back home. Now he will continue his research for alternative medicine and trials and continue with his two passions which are music; he currently plays at nursing homes and he does open mic sessions when and wherever he can and fish; he services aquariums and he has his own 90 and 75 gal tanks. He is determined to beat this nasty thing called cancer. Any help at all would mean so much to both me and Ruben (AKA Champ). God bless....
