Support Rozbot's Transition

Hi friends!

My name is Andi C Rosner, also known as Rozbot. I'm a Chicago-based trans woman, professional circus performer, and computational biology PhD candidate. In August of this year (2024), I underwent facial feminization surgery after confirming costs with my insurance company. The insurance company suddenly and retroactively notified me that they are refusing to cover approximately $9400 in costs from the surgery, burdening me with an unexpectedly large amount of medical debt.

Before transitioning, I would often describe my life as a series of anxieties: no accomplishment, or joy, just relief that I didn't do worse. Ever since I started to transition, every small step has led to my life being more than just something I'm afraid to mess up. Every step in my medical transition has led to me feeling genuine joy for the first time in my life. I love myself and my body more every day now.
However, transitioning has also been the most difficult thing I've ever done. Along with generalized external hardships for being trans, I've gone no contact with my parents and most of my family, and constantly fighting with insurance over my medical care.

Owing this large amount of money presents some significant financial barriers for me.

Medical Transition
I am still in the process of medically transitioning, and this will prevent me from being able to pursue essential procedures in the future without jeopardizing my financial stability.

Work Opportunities
As I often travel for performance work, it would also prevent me from being able to pay for travel costs up-front, resulting in my losing even more money from lost work opportunities.

Housing
I am involved in a build project that would secure stable housing and work space for artists in Chicago, including myself. Owing this money would hinder my ability contribute to this project.

Mental Wellbeing
This unexpected medical debt and the challenges it presents are contributing to significant anxieties over need insecurities.

I appreciate you so much for receiving my story and supporting my journey! Transitioning has made my life worth living, and while incredibly difficult, medically transitioning has made me feel real joy for the first time in my life. Any contribution eases the hardships and let me focus on being authentically me!

Thank you. :3
