Roy had two major surgeries last week to remove a large tumor from his carotid artery. Everything went well and he walked out of the ICU with just a little bit of oxygen. However, early Friday morning he had a major stroke and was air lifted from St. Francis to Penrose Main for a third emergency surgery.
Miraculously, he is making amazing progress on his recovery. However, his thoughts and words are not connecting. It may be some time before he is able to return to work and Libby only has so much time off.
The road ahead will be challenging, as Roy will need ongoing therapy and medical care to regain his strength and communication skills. Libby is doing everything she can to support him, but the financial strain is growing with each day. Medical bills, therapy sessions, and everyday living expenses are adding up quickly, and Roy’s recovery may be lengthy.
Your support will help ease the burden so they can focus on healing. If you can donate anything to help them, it would mean so much. While flowers and food are thoughtful, monetary donations will provide the greatest support for the family right now. Thank you for your support and kindness during this difficult time.
**Update on Roy**
Roy is home now and is getting stronger each day. He is in speech therapy twice a week to work on his words and communication with Libby by his side.
All of his tests and bloodwork before the original surgery showed strong indications that the tumor being removed was benign. However, they have just recently found out that it was in fact cancer. They are waiting patiently to figure out their next move with oncology.
Please send all of your positive vibes and prayers their way. Roy is already a walking miracle and we all know that he is way too stubborn to not overcome this next challenge!
