December 8,2023 is the date of the official diagnosis. ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou Gehrig disease is the terminal illness that my husband, Roy, has. Roy has served his country (Army) and his county (Wake County Sheriff’s Office) selflessly. He continues to be a servant of God and with his Facebook group “Roy’s Journey with ALS ” he is touching the lives of so many with his testimony and encouraging words all for the glory of God. While this journey may last a short while or several years we don’t know the full financial impact this may have on us. People have been so incredibly supportive in raising money for ALS United NC but many have asked how they can help us specifically. We are getting a lot of support through the VA but there are still many out of pocket expenses that we could use help with like adaptive items and equipment and home modifications. Therefore it was encouraged that we set up a gofundme. If you feel so inclined to donate we greatly appreciate it but please know that your love and support in other ways is felt and we can’t do this without that.
