Support Roy Gogue's Battle Against Lymphoma

Hi everyone,
My name is Chloe Castillo and I’m writing on behalf of my close friend, Roy Gogue—a man who has spent his life serving his country, his community, and his family. Now, he’s facing a battle no one is prepared for: lymphoma.
Roy is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served honorably in Iraq from 2003–2007. After returning home, his commitment to service didn’t stop—he joined the ranks of CAL FIRE, where he has worked tirelessly for over a decade on some of California’s most destructive and dangerous wildfires.
Through hard work, grit, and leadership, Roy rose through the ranks and earned the role of Crew Captain, leading and mentoring incarcerated fire crews on the front lines of major campaign fires. This role requires patience, strength, and a deep sense of responsibility—not just for the fires being fought, but for the people he leads. And he has done it all with integrity, heart, and humility.
He now serves as as Fire Captain on a Firefighter Crew, a specialized CAL FIRE hand crew known for taking on some of the toughest wildland fire assignments in California. As a Crew Captain, he leads with experience, grit, and heart—guiding and training his crew through extreme conditions with calm under pressure. His leadership has earned the respect of those who serve with him and the communities he protects.
Now, this same man—who has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with his brothers and sisters on the fire line and served our country overseas—is fighting cancer.
He is a devoted husband and the proud father of two beautiful kids. He’s also the primary provider for his family. His wife, is working hard to become a LCSW, is doing everything she can to hold the family together while supporting him through treatment.
They’re not the kind of people to ask for help—but they need us now.
We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help relieve the financial burden of medical bills during his treatment.
If you know Roy, you know how much he’s given—through war, fire, and service. Now it’s our turn to give back.
Please consider donating or sharing this with your community. Every little bit helps, and every show of support means the world to this family.
