UPDATE 6/21: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, Roy, who passed away peacefully on Father’s Day. He took his final breath surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
During this difficult time, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends. Thank you to everyone who has donated, provided meals, sent messages, and kept our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Details regarding Roy’s Celebration of Life will be shared in the coming days.
With gratitude,
The Lin Family

UPDATE 6/18: Roy is still with us and has been moved into a hospice facility surrounded by his loved ones.

UPDATE 6/15: After many difficult conversations and much consideration, the decision was made to remove life support. He is now resting comfortably and is surrounded by the people who love him most as we spend these precious final moments together.
This is an incredibly difficult time for our family, but we are grateful for the love, prayers, and support that have carried us through. We are focused on making sure Dad is peaceful, comfortable, and never alone.
Thank you for continuing to keep him and our family in your thoughts. Your kindness, generosity, and messages of support mean more than we can express.
We will share further updates when we are able.
With love and gratitude,
Roy’s daughters - Mary, Jennifer, & Jessica

UPDATE 6/13: Unfortunately, he has pneumonia and his health has been declining, and he does not have much time left with us.
We are updating this fundraiser so that any donations received will also help cover funeral and memorial expenses.
Thank you for your continued support and love for our family during this difficult time.

If you've ever visited Canton Chinese Cuisine in West Des Moines, you've likely met our parents, Roy and Cindy. For years, they have served our community with kindness and generosity, always willing to help others in need.
On May 31, our dad, Roy, suffered a severe stroke and is now facing a long road to recovery. As the primary cook and heart of the family restaurant, his sudden medical emergency has forced our parents to close the business.
As self-employed small business owners without health insurance, they are now facing overwhelming medical expenses while also losing their only source of income. With our mom, Cindy, by his side every day at the hospital, the financial challenges continue to grow.
We are raising funds to help cover Roy's medical bills, rehabilitation, medications, medical equipment, and essential living expenses for our parents while the restaurant remains closed.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Roy's care and helping our parents stay financially stable during this difficult time. If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign and keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers would mean so much to us.
Our parents have spent years serving this community. Now, we're asking the community to help support them.
With gratitude, Mary, Jennifer, and Jessica
