Roxanne Estes, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), one of our Hawai'i Island (Big Island) home birth midwives, recently was in an accident! She is home now and being cared for by her family. We expect a full recovery! But being away from her practice while she heals is a financial burden for her that we want to lessen. Please contribute generously to this GoFundMe!

Roxanne brings more than 35 years of midwifery experience to families on Hawai‘i Island. As one of the few CNMs in the state who practices home birth, she has attended approximately 1,700 births during her career — roughly 1,200 in private homes and another 500 in hospitals and birth centers. Roxanne’s practice spans rural community settings as well as work in several Big Island hospitals, serving both as a CNM and as an obstetric registered nurse.

Deeply invested in the local midwifery community, Roxanne was a founding mother and instrumental in establishing two state midwifery organizations: the Hawai‘i Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (HAA) and the Midwives Alliance of Hawai‘i. She is dedicated to supporting safe, individualized, and empowering birth experiences for mothers and babies across Hawai‘i Island.

We at HAA are supporting this fundraiser. Our Affiliate promotes the health and well-being of women and newborns within their families and communities through the development and support of the profession of midwifery as practiced by Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) and Certified Midwives (CMs).
