This is “Rowdy” Harvis Holloway and his wife BJ. They are our friends but also my grandson’s cousins. More importantly, Rowdy is a husband, father and son who works hard to support his family.

Back in July he received news that no one wants to hear. He was diagnosed with cancer.

What started out to appear to be a bad fever blister on his bottom lip was actually squamous cell carcinoma.

He was first misdiagnosed and given antibiotics but when there was no improvement, he went to a dermatologist. In August a CT scan was performed and it was discovered that the cancer was under his tonuge, lip, jawbone and lymph nodes. He had 4 treatments of immunotherapy and chemotherapy which started in September and continued through October and November. The treatments were to shrink the cancer.

Rowdy is scheduled to have surgery on December 16th at Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs. The surgeon will remove part of his lip, lymph nodes, and part of the pallet under the tongue. They will also remove part of his jawbone and reconstruction it with bone from his leg. The surgery will take about 10 hours.

Because of invasive surgery on his mouth, Rowdy will have a feeding tube and trac after surgery and maybe when he goes home. He will be in the hospital at least 7-10 days.

They were also told he will need to have more chemo and possibly radiation afterwards. Needless to say he has a long road ahead to recovery, an estimated 3–6 months.

Please help us support him and his family during this difficult time. They need financial help with medical and personal bills as Rowdy will be out of work for several months. He is the primary breadwinner for the family.

Please pray for Rowdy and his family as they travel through these difficult times and please consider making a donation to help this family.

Any amount helps and is appreciated.
