My name is Rowan, and dysphoria plays a heavy role in my life from the moment I hit adolescence. I would look at the mirror, crying and abusing myself physically or spiritually because I hated how I looked every day no matter how much makeup or nice clothing I have. At 17, I realize this is not normal. I spend a year researching topics, because what could be possibly wrong with me?

I am now 23, living proudly as a man for the past 5 years; this year marks 4 years since I started hormone therapy, and I am officially on the journey to affirming surgery. This will relieve my dysphoria, and I will be able to look at myself without the intense loathing and aggression. I’m working on insurance to cover the procedure, but I will be traveling from Arkansas to California for the best surgery and recovery experience; therefore, travel expenses are expensive for me and my 2 caretakers to come with me, alongside medical supplies needed for smooth recovery. I will have to stay there at least 9 days and also take time off work which will affect my finances. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
