Hello, my name is Rouri! I'm a 36 year old transgender man, living in the middle of nowhere, Nevada.
I began my transitional journey into manhood about 6 years ago. While it hasn't been easy, I feel more comfortable with myself now than I ever did before. However I do suffer from low self-esteem and body dysphoria about my chest.
About 6 years ago, I separated from my husband. We've been diligently working together to co-parent my two kids, and while we don't always see eye to eye on things, we somehow make it work. Between the divorce, raising two kids, navigating living situations, and bills, I've put off surgery for years now.
Through those years I've been binding my chest. I feel so much discomfort and dysphoria about my chest that I hardly go outside without a binder of some kind on. Despite trying many different forms of binding, it's put a massive strain on my asthma, and my body. Often leaving marks and bruising, while doing very little to hide an overly large chest.
So, for my emotional (and physical) well being, I'm reaching out to the community for help to relieve this heavy burden. While I have Nevada Medicaid, it isn't willing to cover this sort of procedure. Neither is there any surgeon in Nevada willing to take it. Which means this has unfortunately become an out of pocket expense.
Your donations would go towards the following:
- Consultation fees for a surgeon in either Reno, or Las Vegas.
- The cost of the surgery itself, as well as any other medical fees.
- Travel, hotel, food, and medical supplies needed for recovery.
