Support Rosie's Peaceful Final Chapter

I've been the luckiest human to share these past four years with my little feisty angel Rosie. Our story goes back to December 2020 when she was 10. Rosiegirl had been a street dog in Stockton, and landed at the East Bay SPCA. I instantly fell in love with her sassy attitude, her expressive ears, and her fierce and loyal spirit.

Rosie has been a better sidekick than I ever could have imagined, and has wedged her way into my heart in a way that will never disappear. During our adventure together, we've lived in San Francisco, then Oakland, now Alameda. We've hiked trails both regionally and afar. She's been by my side through all of the ups and downs and transformative moments of the past four years, and has begrudgingly posed in way more Halloween photos than she bargained for. She is the love of my life, and my ray of sunshine throughout each and every season.

Sadly, Rosie has entered heart failure, and it's been a long journey to provide her with the care that she deserves and to ensure her final months are comfortable and peaceful. When a dog enters heart failure, a domino effect happens, with dozens of other scenarios that pop up-- kidney checks, changes in medication, midnight vet visits to name a few.
I've been beyond blessed to be able to access kind, talented, veterinary care for Rosie, and it's also been brutally costly. Many times, one has to spend hundreds (if not a thousand) to find out even what the next course of action should be, before that course of action is even initiated.
We're a pair of pretty tired puppies :)

Your generosity will help in two primary ways:
  • Helping to alleviate some of the costs that have already incurred (x-rays; Abdominocentesis; Medication Assessment; Emergency Visits; IV-administered-re-hydration; kidney checks; blood tests; cardiac ultrasound)
  • Helping to ensure Rosie has a tranquil, distress-free end-of-life when the time comes
Thank you so much for your generosity, and for all of the ways you've shown our little Rosie girl love and affection.

I named Rosie after Rosie the Riveter. She was a pandemic adoption, and so to stick with the theme of resilience we were all being asked to collectively exhibit, I wanted her to be the mascot of "We Can Do Hard Things". Through every "hard thing" I had to stare down in the past several years, whether it was a career transition, a layoff, heartbreak, medical scares, grief of someone passing away, battling depression, whatever it was-- I always knew that I could count on Rosie to curl up next to me-- and of course bark if my elbow got too close to hers -- and remind me that we're in this together.
