UPDATE 6/12/11 ~ ALMOST TO THE END!

hello friends & supporters!!

we are so close to the end of this campaign! my surgery is less than a month away (!!!!) and i'm so thankful for all yr support to get us here. 

i still have two things left to fundraise for—1) a post-op hospital hotel fee ($1500) due friday 6/17 (URGENT) and 2) my post-op recovery fund, money that i can use to pay my bills while i am recovering (i won't be able to work for 2 months after surgery!)

as a bonus incentive, i've teamed up with artist/angel biff vigil to design a limited edition t-shirt! UPDATE 3/31/22  ~TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY

hello supporters!!!

for trans day of visibility, i wanted to send out an update as well as a new request for support!

i am ~3 months away from my gender confirmation surgery & i need to raise $4-6k for my final surgery related (& ongoing general trans-related) costs! this will be my final request for aid!!!

UPDATE 11/16: ROSIE'S POETIC MOON TRANSITION FUNDRAISER!: As the moon transitions into its fullness during the Nov. 6 - 19 moon phase, join us in funding Rosie’s transition! They need community care to make it there, and we’re sharing the beautiful work of her loved ones to bring attention to this need and celebrate Rosie <3 In a country that cruelly doesn’t care for people, on a planet where trans people are still struggling to get their needs met -- it takes a community to get our trans loved ones healthcare fundamental to their wellbeing. Please join us and we’ll send you some gratitude in the form of a beautiful letterpress or broadside poetry print!

The healthcare system is transphobic, and that’s why we need your help. Rosie still needs lots of essential care for her wellbeing that isn’t covered by her insurance:

$5,000 this November - for electrolysis ($1700/every other month - up to 2 payments left), therapy ($50-100/mo), hormones ($24/mo), & laser hair removal ($180/every other month)
$3,000 by next March, before her June surgery - for surgery after care, one week at the hotel attached to the hospital that is required but not covered (infuriating!), & personal care products

Disclaimer, with gratitude for everybody showing up: we’re sharing about how Rose plans to spend the money so you, Rose’s greater community and community of her loved ones, understand why this vital care is inaccessible. That said, Rosie will 

spend this money how she needs, and as donors we trust that you trust Rose <3 This is mutual aid, not charity, so she won’t be providing receipts and may not have capacity for updates. Thank you for understanding and for your solidarity!

UPDATED COSTS & NEW GOAL 7/11/21

So far Rosie has had 3 sessions of electrolysis, over 6 hours each - the total cost so far has been around $5100. Other monies raised have gone to therapy ($50-100/mo), hormones ($24/mo), & continued laser on

their face ($180/every 2 mo) - all essential care for her well-being.

Still needed= up to 3 more sessions at 6 hours each.
~$1700 per session all said and done. We are also continuing to raise funds for on-going therapy/hormones/laser on her face.
We've had an amazing response from our community, friends, and family so far, thank you so much!
We've decided to increase the goal to $15,000 to cover unexpected and ongoing costs.

This spring Rosie will begin the process of preparing for her gender confirmation surgery! This is a super exciting time, and there is a lot to do to prepare. There are hormones and doctors visits, therapy sessions, letters from medical professionals to acquire, health insurance companies to consult- the list goes on.

Rosie has already invested so much emotionally and mentally, not to mention around $4,000 in therapy, hormones, name change(s), facial laser hair removal; all while making a graduate student's wages.

One big way we can help support Rosie as a community is to pool our financial resources to cover the cost of the electrolysis that ze needs to complete in order to schedule their surgery. She must be 40-60% through this painful, intense process to be able to schedule a consultation with the Cleveland Clinic in order to get a date for surgery (which will hopefully be in 2022). This is an expensive, long-term process that insurance most likely will not cover, so your help is very needed and appreciated!

Here is a breakdown of the costs for the electrolysis Rosie needs:

up to six, 4-6 hour treatments at $170/hr
+ $650 per treatment for local anesthetic and numbing for the area

=max cost of $10,020.

She needs $1,000 for a deposit to get started, which will go toward the total cost.

After initial treatments, it is possible that the full 6 won't be necessary. If that is the case, any remaining funds will be used to support gas, lost wages, and anything not covered by insurance for her surgery (we're hopeful insurance will cover most of the costs associated with the actual surgery!).
