Hello everyone,
As many of you know, we are the lucky pig parents of Rosie, the 13 year old potbellied pig. We came home to the horrifying scene of her bleeding very profusely from her private area after a long night at work on Monday night. Although she seems in good spirits besides giving us the scare of our lives. We stayed up all night gathering information as to the best course of care, calling our vet (who unfortunately couldn't do imaging because Rosie is a medium sized farm animal and they deal in either small ones or very large ones), and gathering references and information on Facebook groups and the likes. The vets as well as many other pig parents are recommending we bring her in to Nemo Farm Animal Hospital of Cornell in Ithaca NY for an emergency spaying because of possible uterine tumors. They are amazing and are getting us in this Wednesday, 11/6 at 11am sharp for imaging and then most likely emergency surgery. We've had Rosie all her life, and she's like a child to us, so this is all very frightening. It's very scary to see the sassy little pig you know and love like your baby have something so horrible happen, and because of her age, the surgery can be risky. We are driving the five hours to Nemo to get her the best possible care in the Northeast, so we're hopeful that everything will turn out ok!
Unfortunately the cost is extreme, and just imagining will cost us 1,000, with the rest of her surgery costing up to 5k more. We are obviously terrified, but we'll do anything to keep her here with us longer. After all, 13 is just middle aged for pigs, and since the rest of her spunky self seems to be in good health, we're hoping to keep her around for the minimum 20 years we can hope to get out of her. I completely understand times are tough, and I don't expect anyone to donate, especially if they can't! However, if you do somehow have even an extra one dollar you can donate towards our Rosie, we'll be forever grateful. Every penny from this donation will go towards Rosie and her care. Please keep us in your thoughts as we make a long journey with a sassy pig who hates car rides! Thank you so much for looking ❤️
Many thanks and lots of love,
Rosie, Rachel, and Eli
