Rosie Leacock-Martin Support Fund

Cancer is no respecter of persons. We ALL either know someone who has lost the battle of cancer or is actively FIGHTING the battle. As you may know, our friend and sister Rosie Leacock-Martin has been bravely fighting breast cancer for the past three years. Now she is facing yet another challenge on top of her cancer treatments. In recent months—unknown to many, Rosie has been unable to walk or even pick up the simplest things. No one seemed to know what was going on. Now we know. She has been diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) – It’s a big name. One that most will never hear about. Simply put, it’s a chronic disorder that causes numbness and weakness in her limbs making it impossible for her to walk or just pick things up! This makes it nearly impossible for her to care for herself…or her family.
Rosie has been fighting her cancer with silent courage, grace and positivity. Rarely if EVER complaining or imposing her burden on anyone. She was hospitalized and treated for CIDP 3 weeks ago and has showed some improvement. However, to date, she has lost the ability to walk—or care for herself. No one knows what causes it, or why it happens. There is no cure. She has good days, and bad days. Rosie is a mom…and a wife. Which makes good days hard and bad days impossible.
Love and compassion for those we care about requires that we DO SOMETHING. This is where WE come in. The work has already begun, however we want—we NEED to DO MORE. Our love for Rosie has motivated us to create this Go Fund Me site to DO MORE for her during this time of enormous need. We want to collectively come together to help Rosie (Alex and Aubrey too). Since Rosie cannot stand or walk, she can’t cook for herself or her family; she can’t clean her own home or manage basic chores and activities that come with a little boy (and a husband)! We understand that there are a LOT of needs out there. But in this case? Here is a way to help someone you KNOW and love in a very real and tangible way.
Here is what we want to do for her:
1) We want to do a home make-over. Not only to make it easier to move about if a wheelchair becomes necessary, but to make it a more comfortable and functional environment for her and her family.
2) Alex works long hours to solely support the family. Rosie can no longer cook for herself or keep up with basic household chores. So we want to secure regular home cleaning and meal preparation services.
3) Any additional funds would help (even in a small way) offset her on-going medical treatment expenses—which are enormous.
That’s it! Your collective donation ($10, $20, $50 or $100…) would help her local support team to gather an army of helpers to get the work done.
There are many who are already contributing their time and money help. Many more have expressed a desire to contribute to the cause. We want to also give YOU an opportunity to help. We are asking that her friends and church family gather together to help raise a minimum of $5,000. We KNOW that collectively, we can do a LOT more than that! Now is your opportunity to demonstrate in a tangible way, how much you love Rosie! It’s not much, but our collective effort WILL make a HUGE difference in her life. Join us won't you?
