In 2018, at only nine years old, my Rosebud was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis. AIH is a progressive inflammatory liver disorder that is very rare in children and adolescents. It is particularly aggressive in children and progresses rapidly unless immunosuppressive treatment is begun promptly. There is no known medical cure for this condition. However, medicine and treatments can effectively control this disease.

After FOUR long years of weekly bloodwork, medication, road trips to specialist appointments, homeschool, and prayer... she was FINALLY considered to be in remission!

Unfortunately, this past winter, Rosey got really sick. She started exhibiting signs of AIH again. Her bloodwork has confirmed our worst fears; her liver enzymes have been continually high, so she has to have a biopsy again early next week.

We feel lucky and blessed to have found a wonderful team of pediatric gastroenterologist specialists at Upstate Medical in Syracuse, NY. They have so much experience with AIH and have helped give us the confidence to move forward with hope in our hearts.

Our insurance is only covering part of the expenses. Asking for help isn't easy, but we know our family and community has often offered to help us, so here we are.
