Support Rose's Journey to Spine Surgery

Rose has worked in the Healthcare Industry for 15 years of her life. On April 5th, she was hospitalized for 6 days due to sudden severe lower back pain that radiates down both legs, making it impossible to work. It was caused from heavy lifting, years of strain taking care of patients, and throwing her back out taking care of her mom after she had bilateral knee replacements.

Rose has failed land physical therapy, has been going to pool therapy, seeing countless specialists and is tentatively scheduled for spine surgery at the end of July. Surgery could be moved up if she were able to pay the spine surgeon the $1080 he requires prior to surgery, along with purchasing the medical equipment and back brace needed. It’s an ALIF procedure- where a cage is placed in the spine after removing a disc. The procedure involves 2 surgeons. 

The back brace required prior to surgery costs $2000 with a $500 copay- along with paying the surgeon prior to surgery, this alone is more than my disability check for the month. 

She has exhausted her 12 weeks of FMLA and will continue to need to be off work after surgery, will need continued PT, specialists follow-up care, will be unable to drive for 3 weeks post-op, needs assistance with medical devices not covered under insurance, help with the copays, has met her $9100 deductible (not yet paid for) yet there are many costs that are not considered part of that deductible (medications, PT, doctor copays, 20% of the cost of surgery/use of the operating room/anesthesia,

hospital stay/ etc).

Since being off work over 12 weeks, she has increased debt thru medical bills and by falling behind on regular monthly bills, as well. She hopes to get well enough to return quickly to a job in healthcare, taking care of others, which she is very passionate about.
