My name is Ashley and this is my 8 yr old American pitbull terrier named rose. I adopted rose a little over 6 yrs ago from the Jefferson county animal shelter and she’s been mine and my kids bestfriend since. We found out on Tuesday that despite her being on a preventative it stopped working at some point and rose has contracted heartworm. The treatment would be between $1,000-$2,500 depending how many days she has to be hospitalized. After spending almost $400 Tuesday for heartworm testing and meds for her arthritis I don’t have the funds to pay for her heartworm treatment. If she doesn’t receive this treatment she will pass away. I have 1 month while she’s on the beginning meds for the treatment to come up with the money for the infusion part.
