As many of you know, I’ve been in treatment for Stage IV colon cancer since April 2024. I’ve gone through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, two different regimens, a treatment holiday, progression, and now — thankfully — I’ve been accepted into a promising clinical trial at the University of Colorado Hospital. This trial is giving me something incredibly precious: real hope. Already, it’s showing encouraging signs in my bloodwork and tumor markers.
With all of that said, I’ve reached a point where I need to ask for help. Because of the progression of my illness and the intensiveness of treatment, I am no longer able to work. I am now living on disability income, which covers the basics but does not come close to covering major medical expenses — especially at the start of a new insurance year. On January 1, 2026, my insurance will reset and I will owe significant upfront costs, including deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, and travel costs to the cancer center for trial visits and scans. These expenses are unavoidable, and I cannot meet them on my own.
Asking for financial support is something I’ve never done before. I’ve spent my life working in service to others, leading the Child Advocacy Center and supporting families through their hardest moments. Being in the position of needing help is humbling — but cancer doesn’t leave much room for pride. If you are able to contribute, please know that you are directly helping me continue the treatment that is giving me more time, more possibilities, and real hope. Your support will help cover my 2026 deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, required travel to Colorado for clinical trial treatments, scans, and monitoring, and additional medical needs not covered by insurance. I understand not everyone can give financially. Sharing this campaign or sending encouragement is just as meaningful. Thank you for walking this road with me, for your support, and for giving me strength on the days I need it most.
