Support Rosaura's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brenda Santana, and I am raising funds to help my dear friend and sorority sister, Rosaura Ruby Cruz, on behalf of the Cruz Family.

On July 12, 2022, Rosaura went to a 24-hour emergency clinic as she was experiencing difficulty breathing due to COVID-19; she was released that night as she was feeling better. What came next was something we could not imagine for a young, on-the-go, seemingly healthy adult. On July 19, 2022, she was admitted to the hospital as her health declined quickly and was moved to a critical care unit. Rosaura could not catch a break and had several setbacks to which she remains in CCU.

Rosaura is a fighter and has overcome each setback that has come her way. She survived a hospital transfer via air transport to be placed on ECMO, a machine that attributed to her success vital part of her recovery. She was placed and came out of a coma due to an infectious disease that caused further complications. She also survived the collapse of both of her lungs. She has been able to slowly get off machines such as ECMO and the ventilator, allowing her to regain her speech and mobility. Rosaura has a long road to recovery. While she is grateful to have insurance that has allowed her to remain in the hospital to get the treatment she needs, we do not want her to worry about the medical costs associated with her recovery.

Rosaura has worked and given back to the non-profit world in Dallas, Texas. She has been an executive director for an arts youth program in Dallas for the past several years. Anyone who has met Rosaura can attest that her work is her passion. She is always working on ways to fund her program and has helped others do the same for theirs. She is a champion and go-getter that doesn't accept "No" for an answer or defeat as an outcome, one of the qualities that have played a role in overcoming the hurdles through a complicated recovery process.

Please help Rosaura by donating to help cover medical expenses associated with her extended stay in the hospital. While we don't have a time frame for when she will be discharged, we are hopeful and praying that she can make a full recovery. As Rosaura would say, "Any amount helps."
