UPDATE: After spending thousands and thousands of dollars in legal fees over the past year, Rosa's family has been struggling to make ends meet, with Rosa's husband working overtime as a delivery driver for UberEats. Unfortunately, on 11/5, Rosa's husband's Honda PCX scooter was stolen, which means he has been and continues to be unable to work. Rosa reached out to share the police report they filed and to ask for our help, as her family is finding themselves again in dire financial straits. Shout out to Lee for providing an electric scooter to support Rosa's husband in having some transportation in the immediate area, however, they need a more substantial motorbike in order for him to resume his employment and for the family to reestablish any semblance of financial stability. The cheapest comparable, used motorbike we could find sold in the area is listed in Vermont for $3,599, so we are setting that as the goal for our fundraising efforts to help Rosa's family. We will add this goal to our original fundraiser for Rosa and her family; since we originally raised $4,000 for Rosa's asylum appeal, the new goal you will see is $7,599. If you are able to contribute, even a very small amount, you can donate here: https://gofund.me/cbc54d45. If you aren't able to contribute financially, passing along this fundraiser to your friends and family would be an enormous and cost free way to help.
When I let Rosa know we would create a fundraiser for her family and that we had an electric scooter to offer her in the meantime, Rosa wrote, "muchas gracias, no sabes el alivio de saber que hay personas como tu dispuestas a ayudarme en esta situación Dios te bendiga /thank you so much, you can't imagine the relief it is to know there are people like you all willing to help me in this situation, God bless you ".

After fleeing danger in their home country, Rosa* came to the US in search of safety and a better future. Over the past few years, she and her family have built a life rooted in hope, and welcomed two beautiful children, both born here in the US.
Rosa has spent thousands of dollars on legal fees fighting for asylum, doing everything in her power to follow the legal process. But despite her efforts, her case has been denied, and she is now facing the heartbreaking possibility of deportation, with an infant and toddler who have only ever known this country as their home.
This family is at a crisis point. They are seeking the bare minimum of what they need, simply enough money to cover legal costs for an appeal. If we can exceed the goal, only then will they receive support for basic needs like housing and food, and critical resources to keep their young children safe and stable during this uncertain time.
They are kind, hardworking, and deeply loved by their community. Please help us stand by them. Every donation, share, and message of support makes a difference.
Thank you for showing this family that they are not alone. ❤️
