Rosario is a resident of Evanston, living with her husband and three children. Since October, both Rosario and her husband have been unable to work, which has made it nearly impossible for them to keep up with basic expenses. Their family has been deeply impacted by the fear of detention and deportation, which has added to their stress and made it even harder to find and keep work. I have been supporting Rosario’s family through mutual aid, helping them find resources to cover rent and basic needs, but the threat of eviction remains as they struggle to pay back rent.

Manuel lives in Rogers Park, just over the border from Evanston, and has been in the U.S. only a short time. He was living with his cousin, who was one of several men abducted and detained by ICE while waiting for day work at Home Depot. Now, Manuel is living with another cousin, but both have limited work opportunities and struggle to pay rent each month. I have been working with Manuel for several months, helping him with groceries and finding rent support through mutual aid, but the need continues as he works to secure stable housing.

The funds raised through this campaign will first be used to pay off any rent balances owed by both Rosario’s and Manuel’s families, ensuring their housing is secure. After rent is covered, any remaining funds will help with groceries and utilities. The priority is to keep both families safely housed and supported during this time of uncertainty.
