On behalf of the Khan Family, we are reaching out with heavy hearts but strong hope. There are no words when it comes to a situation like this, but with my mom’s permission, I am heartbroken to have to share her story.

My mom, Rosana, was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. She had surgery to remove the cancer cells… unfortunately, her surgery was done incorrectly. A piece of the thyroid gland was left, and the thyroid gland is now regrowing and has the possibility of spreading the cancer again. So, now she is having to get radiation iodine therapy.

Radioactive iodine therapy is a targeted radiation treatment for the thyroid. It is a nuclear medicine treatment that uses a radioactive form of iodine, iodine-131 (I-131), to treat thyroid conditions and certain types of thyroid cancer. It works by targeting and destroying the thyroid gland cells, including cancer cells, that absorb iodine.

Any donations will be brought directly to be used immediately for:

• Travel/flight

• Accommodations for Rosana & caretakers

• Medical consultations

• I-131 iodine whole body scan $1300 USD

• A dose of 50 mCi is $5000 USD

• Daily expenses related to Rosana’s care

Any funds raised will go toward covering medical expenses and helping with the many unforeseen costs that come with this heartbreaking journey.
