Support Rory, music teacher imprisoned for climate protest
Donation protected
Rory Wilson is a 27 year old music teacher, appreciated by his students and loved by friends, and deeply dedicated to protecting young people. And he has spent 8 of the last 9 months in prison.
Last July, Rory took action with Just Stop Oil, standing up for his students' generation against our government who are fuelling the climate crisis. He was arrested at Heathrow Airport and remanded to prison, unable to continue his teaching work, and will face sentencing on the 16th of May.
This fundraiser will provide Rory with the support he needs to get back on his feet while he applies for teaching jobs and prepares for the summer ahead. Any contributions will help cover living expenses and other essentials until he secures a position for the upcoming school year.
Before taking action, Rory had been a dedicated music teacher for three years in Highbury, London. He remains deeply committed to this work and aims to return to the profession for the next academic year, starting September 2025.
Rory is eager to return to his passion for making the magic of music happen in schools, and your support will help him navigate this period.
Rory's decision to participate in the Just Stop Oil campaign was driven by his passion for the future of his students and their generation. As a teacher he has always worked hard to do the best for his students; given that climate collapse is one of the greatest threats to the young people he works with, he made the choice to take part in direct action.
Even while incarcerated, Rory continued his work as an educator, teaching English to non-native speakers.
Thank you for your generosity.
This fundraiser is being managed by his prison buddy, with the money paid directly to Rory.
