Bring YUP Back!
Fund Roqué’s Brilliant Comedy Sequel
For the love of art and excellence, please donate to create the film sequel of Roqué Marcelo's short queer comedy YUP.
The original version was filmed in less than two days during 2019, on a meager budget, with equipment borrowed from Middle Tennessee State University. And yet, as a student artist, Roqué also wrote and co-produced the song "WAWA" that opens the film.
YUP recently screened at the Queers In Shorts event in Cambridge, UK, and created an enthusiastic cult-like thirst for more!
Taste the original: Watch YUP
With your help, this short will be twice as long! Let’s hear Roqué’s lovingly composed music, and visit multiple locations in the zany YUP multiverse. Let’s support a bigger cast, and see them dance in elaborate outfits.
With $12,000, Roqué can score/direct/produce this film and cover some essential costs:
- Stipends for cast & crew members
- Food for cast & crew during production
- Splendid costumes
- Record new original compositions for soundtrack & score
- Props & set staging
- Equipment rentals
Like many forms of expression, funding for the arts is being slashed across the country. This production will showcase the work of dozens of irrepressible artistic geniuses and skilled trades people. The funds raised for this production can’t possibly fairly pay the artists and technicians for their work; but 12K will make it happen, provide a little balance, and assure a good lunch for folks participating in the insightful, funny, radically expressive YUP project.
With your support, filming will begin in the winter of 2026.
We live in precarious times in which many people in the U.S. and in war-ravaged countries abroad need support for personal and medical needs. We know that resources are spread thin.
12K is a really small film budget, but it can amplify incredible talent and vision. Any amount you can give will go a long way toward mounting this production. Please share this campaign with anyone, everyone, who might support Roqué’s independent film.
About the filmmaker:
Since graduating with a video and film production degree in 2019, Roqué has filmed, directed, and produced over 50 original film projects. He is also a performing pianist and singer with his band Ancestral Tongue, a songwriter and composer, a photographer, a visual artist specializing in graphic and web design, and a writer of short stories and screenplays.
