Support Roo's Heart In His Final Days

Donation protected
Roo is my 14-year-old German Shepherd mix and my best furry friend. I adopted him from BARK when he was just 2 years old, and he’s been my rock ever since—especially after I became disabled. Roo has watched over me, comforted me, and given me unconditional love every single day.

On September 12, Roo collapsed at home. He was rushed to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma—a cancerous tumor at the base of his heart. This type of cancer is heartbreakingly common in German Shepherds and often goes undetected until it causes serious issues.

The tumor had begun bleeding into the protective sac around his heart, causing his collapse. Roo needed an emergency procedure called a Pericardiocentesis to remove the blood and save his life. He made it through the surgery, but the prognosis is terminal. The tumor will likely bleed again in weeks or months.

Right now, Roo is on medication to slow the progression and keep him comfortable. The emergency procedure and tests cost $3,599, and his medications are $200 a month. Surgery to remove the tumor would cost over $15,000, which I simply can’t afford—and I don’t want to put Roo through that at his age.

I’m asking for help to cover his medical bills and ensure his final days are peaceful, pain-free, and filled with love. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us stay together a little longer.

Thank you for reading Roo’s story and for any support you can offer. We’re so grateful.
