Support Room to Read at the Tokyo Marathon

I am so excited to be earning my sixth star at the Tokyo Marathon in March! I will be running and donating to Room to Read!

Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, Room to Read is creating a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality. We are achieving this goal by helping children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and by supporting girls as they build skills to succeed in school and negotiate key life decisions. We collaborate with governments and other partner organizations to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale. Room to Read has benefited more than 39 million children and has worked in 24 countries and in more than 192,000 communities, with additional support through remote solutions that facilitate learning beyond the classroom. Room to Read aims to reach 40 million children by 2025.

I believe strongly in the mission of Room to Read- in both the Literacy Program and Girls Education Program. I have worked for many years supporting diverse learners, specifically those with dyslexia, in gaining the skills and confidence to read. I have also worked with marginalized communities and designed curriculum for countries without access to quality educational materials. Reading is a right for all people. I have seen the power of quality reading programs that use data backed methods and engage communities and I want to help make an impact on giving all people access to literacy. As an educator, I am grateful to be a part of the Tokyo Marathon Room to Read team and appreciate all of your support!
