Hi,

My name is Ron English. I’m 76 years of age and have worked in the food service industry starting at the age of 14. I’m married to my wonderful wife Emily and we have a son RJ who is about to start firefighter school.

I fell from the top of a structure some 25 years past and shattered my right ankle.

The medical experts were able to save my foot after extensive surgeries including a skin graft. Unfortunately, over the years arthritis has settled in causing extreme pain

and walking complications. After having 4 surgeries over the past 5 years, there’s nothing else the orthopedic surgeons can do to relieve the pain and deterioration of my ankle. After consultation with a group of surgeons, it was determined that the best course of action at this point is amputation of the ankle and foot. A prosthetic limb will relieve the pain and give me a better quality of life.

While I have Medicare and a supplemental insurance policy, there will be other associated medical cost. I am receiving Social Security benefits and have been employed to provide adequately for my family, as SSI is not sufficient enough to live on. My wife has been employed over the past few years but it’s been sporadic because of my needed home care. It’s expected to take 3-4 months to recover from the impending surgery scheduled for September 27th. In addition to the ankle issue, I suffered a seizure in May of 2023 for which I am still recovering. I’ve had a heart attack and have AFFIB for which I take medication and under went a second heart surgery last month The results were not favorable. I also suffer from back pain caused by 5 bulging discs in my spine, which cannot be addressed until these other immediate issues are resolved.

During my career I was fortunate enough to help many in need and now I find myself in a position of needing assistance. I need to raise $25,000 to help cover expected medical costs, rent, utilities, insurance, food, car payment, and other day to day living expenses through out the expected recovery period.
