Ronnie Barnes, my father-in-law, is facing one of the toughest challenges of his life. He went into the hospital for what was supposed to be a routine surgery to remove a 90% blockage in his carotid artery. Unfortunately, as soon as he was in recovery, Ronnie suffered a stroke and had to be rushed back into surgery. Just a couple of days later, he developed a hematoma and needed a third surgery. During that procedure, doctors had to place a trach because of severe swelling and a blocked airway. Ronnie was sedated for two weeks following these complications, and our family spent every day hoping and praying for his recovery.

Now, Ronnie is awake and making slow but steady progress. However, the road ahead is long, and he still faces many challenges as he works to regain his strength. The unexpected complications have left him unable to work, and with no income coming in, his medical bills and household expenses are piling up quickly. Our family is doing everything we can to support him, but we know we can’t do it alone.
