Support Rondal and Karen Allen's Journey for Kade
Donation protected
I am Tanya McCall-Riley, and this year for my birthday, instead of choosing a non-profit, I'd like to organize this GoFundMe for my grandchildren, Rondal and Karen Allen, to provide care for their 5 year old son, Kade, my great-grandson and also the grandson of Chad and Kimberly Allen.
Kade has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
He lives in Buckhannon, WV with his parents who are both holding down jobs to pay expenses, plus they also have a young daughter.
Their funds for travel are exhausted, and those that could help, have. Kade's treatments require long stays at times, causing one or both parents to miss work, and at times a day trip just for labs to Columbus, Ohio and back.
Their son has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is being treated in Columbus, Ohio at Children's Hospital.
There is NO CURE for DMD. This inherited condition is caused by genetic defects in the gene that codes for dystrophin, a protein that helps protect muscle fibers from breaking down.
Corticosteroids and Duvyzat help prevent muscle fiber damage, and gene therapy can improve dystrophin production. However, these treatments cannot fully prevent muscle degeneration in DMD and he will be wheelchair-bound.
Currently, Kade is home on high doses of steroids because his liver enzymes are too high. However, they will soon have to travel back for more labs and the next plan of treatment.
I pray that your generous heart can help my grandchildren with travel expenses. Any amount, small or large, will add to the purse and would be appreciated by all.
