My heart is broken. Yesterday, my family suffered a devastating loss when my little cousin's life was lost in a senseless act of violence. We are finding it incredibly hard to cope.

Ronaldo was one of the best of us, really sweet and kind. He never hurt anyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was only 22, had just married his middle school sweetheart earlier this year, and was expecting his first child next month. His wife is now left to go through the rest of her pregnancy, birth, and motherhood without her partner.

My cousin and his wife were working hard to make an honest living, in a place where it is so easy to succumb to crime to make a quick buck. They were working on building their home and had a seafood shack where they served delicious ceviches and crudos. I was so proud of them and excited for their lives together after witnessing his growth into a wonderful young man. He was loved by many and his loss has left a void in many hearts.
