Support Ron Taylor’s Recovery Journey in His Time of Need

My name is Debra Rich and I am raising funds for my friend Ron Taylor. Ron had a near-fatal event that, by the mercy and grace of God, he was saved. On October 5th of 2024, Ron received a flu shot, and the following early part of the week, he experienced periods of dizziness and felt the need to use a cane to steady himself. By Thursday evening, he eventually passed out as he was attempting to secure the house for the night. The neighbors could hear him praying faintly, but after a while, he stopped. They became worried and decided to call the police for a wellness check. After five days, he was found in an unconscious state. He was rushed to Northwest Hospital in Baltimore County, Maryland. At the hospital, the doctors put him under heavy sedation to slowly revive him for fear of a heart attack or massive stroke. His conditions were paralysis on his left side, very low kidney function, he was on oxygen, heart monitors, a feeding tube for his meals, he had bouts of dizzy spells where he could hardly sit up in bed, numerous blood clots, and he was very anemic, requiring one to two blood transfusions a day for two weeks. While at this hospital, Ron received a battery of tests, CAT scans, MRIs, some kidney dialysis, and the blood transfusions as recuperative measures to treat him.

On November 7, 2024, after almost a month in the hospital, Ron was transferred to Future Care-Old Court Rehabilitation Center in Randallstown, Maryland for extensive rehabilitation. He is receiving physical therapy for walking and climbing stairs, occupational therapy for his left hand which is still paralyzed (this is a big problem because he is left-handed), and training for the use of his right hand. He is also receiving E-stim therapy, which are electronic probes for the upper arm to stimulate the lower arms and hands. He is also having speech therapy for strengthening his vocal cords because his voice was very weak, soft, and low, almost like a whisper. Ron has always said, “Even though I have and am still going through this ordeal, I thank God for saving my life. If He had not given me the neighbors that I have, I could be dead by now because no one would have looked to see if I was missing like they did.”

Due to the extreme nature of his medical conditions as a result of this incident, Ron has been out of work for the past two months. He will be requiring continued physical and occupational therapy in-home for an unspecified period of time.

Since writing the GoFundMe page, Ron has had another episode just like the one he had in his home. Also, during his hospital stay, he felt dizziness and one time he also vomited in addition to fainting. During his lunch, he felt dizzy and passed out. When he woke up, he was covered in vomit as well as feeling faint. The rehabilitation facility doctor suggested that he not go home at this time. He prescribed IV fluids to replenish his body with antibiotics to avoid infection. The rehabilitation facility has asked Ron to file an appeal to his insurance company for additional coverage, and he did. He has since decided that he needs to stay at least another week. At present, he is weak and needs assistance leaving his bed.

Consequently, he has lost his ability to work and has lost his source of income. At the present, as you can imagine, he is behind in his rent, utilities, and other financial obligations. I am asking for funding to help with his bills and medical copays. Any monetary assistance you can give at this time towards his present and future financial needs would be greatly appreciated.
