This Thursday, Ron Pinkard turns 85, and we’re celebrating our beloved elder at Whittier Cafe!
Ron is a veteran and trailblazing actor who helped change Hollywood by refusing to be typecast in demeaning roles such as a slave. Many know him as Dr. Morton from the iconic series Emergency. In the Whittier neighborhood where he was born, Ron is known for his quick wit, sharp humor, and unapologetically ornery charm—holding court most mornings at Whittier Cafe over beer, grilled cheese, and banana bread.
As Ron hits this milestone, he could use some practical support: new glasses, a pantry fill up, a deep home clean, a few needed repairs, and a new or newer phone to stay connected. We’d also love to cover his Cafe tab for the next three months, so he can keep enjoying his favorite spot without a second thought.
Join us in supporting our elder and consider donating—any amount helps—or reach out to Whittier Cafe if you can assist with repairs or item donations. Your support will mean the world to Ron and to everyone who loves him.
And if you’re around, join us this Thursday at 7:45 a.m. at Whittier Cafe for cake and celebration when Ron strolls in for morning beers.
