Ron Malcolm served with the Cobb County Police Department for 24 years, dedicating his life to protecting and serving his community. His wife, Maggie, worked as a radio operator for Marietta and Smyrna Police Departments and later in several doctors’ offices. Together, they have been married for 43 years, building a life centered on service, kindness, and generosity.

A couple of months ago, Ron experienced a sudden fall at home, which led to an emergency room visit. This was the first sign that something was wrong, as Ron had never shown any prior health issues. While in the hospital, doctors discovered that Ron had cancer in several areas of his body. The diagnosis was devastating, and unfortunately, there were no medical options available. Ron returned home to be cared for by Maggie, facing his situation with the same humor and warmth he’s always shown—sharing stories, telling jokes, and reminiscing about his passions for hunting, fishing, and cars.

In the past two weeks, Ron’s health has declined significantly. To make matters more difficult, Ron and Maggie learned that the life insurance policy they thought would help was only an Accidental Death and Dismemberment Policy, leaving them without enough funds for funeral expenses. They are now struggling to cover medical bills, fill their propane tank for heating, and manage daily living costs. Over the years, Ron and Maggie have always put others first, helping family and friends whenever they could. Now, they need our help and support more than ever.

I, along with many others, know what kind of people Ron and Maggie are and have been to their families, friends, and community. We understand this can be a tough time of year for many people, and others are facing financial hardships as well. But YOU can make a difference in their lives.
