Honoring a Hero: Support Ron Highet’s Final Journey
Tragic Loss: On July 19, 2025, Ron Highet, 56, of Rochester, MN, tragically drowned while heroically trying to save a 12-year-old girl from the strong currents of the Mississippi River near Lake City. Though the child was rescued, Ron, exhausted from his efforts, did not resurface. His selfless act of courage in those final moments perfectly captured the way he lived his life: always putting others first.
Ron leaves behind his heartbroken children—22-year-old Adrian and Anthony, and 19-year-old Ashley—who now face the unimaginable grief of losing their father while struggling to cover unexpected funeral costs. As young adults just starting their lives, they are overwhelmed by the financial burden of laying their hero to rest.
How You Can Help:
We are humbly asking for donations to:
- Cover basic funeral and burial expenses
- Offset end-of-life medical costs
- Support his children’s immediate needs during this painful transition
A Man Who Deserves to Be Remembered: Ron was so much more than his final act of bravery. He was the kind of father who planned epic rock-hunting adventures along Lake Superior, the sort of friend who’d drop everything to fix your computer, and the proudest Packers fan you’d ever meet. His sudden loss has left a void no amount of money can fill—but together, we can ensure his children are not burdened by financial stress during their darkest days.
Every Contribution Matters:
- $25 helps purchase memorial cards
- $100 covers an hour of funeral home services
- $500 contributes to the cost of cremation.
Ron spent his life helping others—let’s come together to give him the dignified farewell he deserves, and show his children that their father’s kindness lives on in all of us.
In the end, it’s not the years in a life that matter, but the life in those years.
