On July 31 my brother, Ron Bear, was admitted to the hospital with an infection in his right foot. He had surgery on August 2 to remove the infected tissue. After surgery, the surgeon said the infection is aggressive and has moved up his leg. We learned that they would need to amputate his foot and part of his leg in an effort to stop the spread of the infection. He underwent the amputation today, Monday, August 4. We pray that it will stop the spread and he won’t have to undergo additional infection surgeries.
Ron faces an unexpected and overwhelming chapter filled with medical needs, expenses, uncertainty about navigating construction work as an amputee and the emotional toll of recovery.
Whether you know him as Ron, Ronnie, Papa, Bear, neighbor or friend, he always puts others before himself. He is a loving and loyal son, brother, dad, boyfriend, grandpa and friend. Those that know him, know he has always been full of kindness, strength, humor, and willingness to help others.
Ron’s journey ahead will involve extensive medical care, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and modifications to daily living.
Funds will help with:
Medical expenses, rehabilitation, physical therapy, mobility equipment and prostheses
He is a warrior and determined to get back to backhoe and building construction work; driving the tractor; cooking at the restaurant on the weekends; and spending time with his family and friends.
Please keep Ron in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your support.
