Romeo Update

Romeo had his vet appointment today. The exam and medications cost $461.80, and we now know what’s been causing him so much pain.

He has severe stomatitis and will need a full dental extraction to finally relieve it. The good news is that he tested negative on his SNAP test (no FIV, no FeLV), which means he’s otherwise healthy and this surgery can truly give him a pain-free, happy life.

The estimated cost for the dental procedure is around $1,000, and he also needs his routine vaccination shots to keep him fully protected.

We’ve raised $70 so far, and every little bit helps Romeo get the care he desperately needs. Even $5–$10 can make a difference, and sharing this fundraiser helps just as much.

Romeo has waited almost two years for a safe, healthy life. I’m doing everything I can to give him that chance. Thank you for supporting him.

Good News for Romeo!

He has a vet appointment scheduled for this week to evaluate his stomatitis and determine the next steps for treatment.

He is recovering well from his neuter surgery and has been such a brave, gentle boy through everything. For the past week, he’s been quarantined in our bathroom to keep him safe while healing. Since there are no windows in there, we’ve started getting him used to spending short, supervised periods in a crate outside so he can safely enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

We’re also helping him become comfortable with a crate in case future medical visits — or hopefully a rescue placement — require it. He’s adjusting better than we expected and continues to show just how sweet and trusting he is.

Help Romeo Find his forever Home

Romeo has waited nearly two years for safety. Now he needs help to survive.

Romeo was born feral but has always been incredibly gentle and affectionate. Abandoned as a tiny kitten, he never joined the outdoor colony. Instead, he waited every day on our porch—watching through the window, hoping to come inside and belong. We have had several other fur baby emergencies, with our own and with the feral colony that had been priority, so financially and space wise, we’ve done the best we could for Romeo outdoors, providing food, bed etc.

Over the last two years, Romeo has endured unimaginable hardship:

• Being kicked by neighbors

• Losing feline friends to poisoning and dog attacks

• Being attacked by larger cats

• Living with untreated allergies worsened by weekly HOA leaf blowers

Inside our home, my 7-year-old cat Moxie cuddles against the window while Romeo lies outside, pressed to the glass so they can be together. He gently paws, tilts his head, and begs to come in. He just wants to be safe.

After saving for a long time, I was finally able to have Romeo neutered, and he is now recovering safely indoors quarantined in our tiny bathroom.

This gave us hope that a rescue could take him—until we learned he has possible stomatitis caused by a bad tooth or teeth.
