Support Romeo Chocolates Recover from Burglary!

Hello Romeo Chocolates, Long Beach and Filipinx Family, and extended supporters nationwide,
We need your help to support Romeo Chocolates, a beloved local Filipinx owned business, during their time of need! Early morning on Monday, January 31st, 2022 Romeo Chocolates’ downtown store was broken into and burglarized before dawn, leaving shards of broken glass and an empty cash register, right before Valentine’s Day, one of their busiest seasons of the year. While their owner and Chef Romeo Garcia is thankful the team is safe, we as a community find this unacceptable and horrific as it greatly affects a cherished local small business that has already been scraping by with thin margins due to the pandemic. We hope to be able to support Romeo and his team to pay for the repairs, replenish the money stolen, and ultimately build back up team morale by launching this GoFundMe! This is the time for us to come together and lift up local businesses that consistently give so much to our community!
Owner and Chef Romeo Garcia is a community leader, advocate, and chef that founded Romeo Chocolates in 2014 through pop-ups all over Long Beach followed by a brick & mortar chocolate & wine bar in Downtown Long Beach in 2017. His company uses ethically sourced, fair trade cacao and chocolate and supports the farmers and makers throughout the supply chain of the cacao industry. He is a staunch advocate for underserved students and low-income communities and a big supporter of other local businesses by hosting pop-ups to help incubate their concepts. He also founded and brought the annual Parol Lantern Festival from the Bay Area to Long Beach in 2018 to activate the downtown corridor and provide a space of celebration for Filipinx’s in the area and has been a major sponsor of the event every year. Please join us in contributing so we can reach our goal of 15,000!
