As some of you may know my niece’s son Roman, who is 9 years old, was recently diagnosed with a tumor above his left eye that has destroyed part of the eyebrow bone. After many tests over the last 2 weeks, it was determined that Roman has a rare blood disorder called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), which, while not cancer, behaves similarly. LCH occurs when the body produces too many immature immune cells, which can form tumors and cause damage to tissue, bone, and organs. Thankfully, Roman’s PET and CT scans showed no spread to other parts of his body.
The exciting news is that Roman has the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he can receive an alternative treatment that has shown great success without the harsh side effects of chemotherapy. This treatment involves daily oral medication under close supervision, along with monthly tests and scans. The doctors are confident that, with this treatment, Roman will be completely cured, and the disease will not return.
While Roman will need to visit Cincinnati several times over the next two years for this treatment, we are filled with hope and gratitude for this incredible opportunity. However, these frequent trips will require significant financial assistance to cover flights, hotel stays, rental cars, and food expenses. We will provide further updates on hospital bills as they come in. We are so thankful for the love, support, and financial assistance that has carried us through this challenging time. The Lord has truly answered our prayers, and we couldn't be more grateful for your continued support! ❤️
Thank you all for being part of Roman’s journey toward healing!
