Support Roman after the devastating loss of his wife Arna.

On May 24th 2023 our joyful and irrepressible sister and daughter, Arna Mock, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. It was the beginning of almost 2 years of ongoing medical treatments and hospital visits.

Throughout all the chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, clinical trials and surgeries, her extraordinary husband Roman was by her side. Her stable, dedicated and loving caregiver.

Roman stopped all other work and moved with Arna from Cologne to her hometown of Melbourne, where she received treatment. He gave her the love and care she needed to live with strength, joy, freedom, optimism and love. In Arna’s words, Roman was her “tree”, grounding her in every moment.

After her huge journey living with cancer, on April 10th 2025 Arna took her last breath and left this world. She was 44 years old.

It is a devastating time for us all and it is almost impossible to fathom a world without her joy, playfulness and light. But as Arna’s family, one thing we are eternally grateful for is that she had Roman beside her, especially for the last years of her life. She was so happy that he was there. Roman gave her the life she craved and the care she needed. That is the deepest comfort.

Roman now faces life without his love beside him. He is grieving the loss of his soul mate and life partner. Their shared future.

As Arna’s full time carer, Roman has been living without a wage. He is now the caretaker of Arna’s end-of-life wishes and holds responsibility for:

Roman and Arna were living in Cologne until September 2023, when they moved to Melbourne for Arna's treatment. Roman now has many administrative and maintenance tasks in both countries, which he will need to travel for.

• Rebuilding his life after this devastating loss

Alongside these end-of-life tasks, Roman is deeply grieving. He needs time and support to find his way back to work. Back to rebuilding his life.
