3/03/2025: Since I'm not receiving an tax refunds this year, I've had to raise the goal again. I am actively looking for work! If anyone has leads, you can find me on Bluesky.
Hello, I'm Roland, and I'm very, very sick. I was first diagnosed with pre-diabetes back in 2018. I didn't have health insurance, so I tried to control it through exercise and diet. Unfortunately, over the past few months, I've been getting sick a lot. I've been experiencing fatigue, cramps, and malaise, along with bouts of actual illness. I finally got myself to a clinic and my A1C is nearly 12, indicating that not only have I developed full diabetes, it's out of control. On top of that, I've suffered kidney damage and am in the early stages of renal failure.
About two weeks after my diagnosis, I lost my job. I don't have the energy or mental acuity to get another. We are trying to get my A1C down through medication - Metformin and Glipizide at the moment, maybe Ozempic later if I can qualify for aid. But I can't work, and my savings have been drained.
I've cut my expenses to the bone, but I still need help making ends meet for at least three months while we see if the treatment is helping. This could take some time.
