My father, Rolando, is one of the most resilient people I've ever had the honor of knowing in my life. I've known that since I was young. But this past month has truly shown me how resilient he truly is. In October 2024, my father, in preparation for the hurricane and blindsided by the tornadoes, fell and tore all the tendons in his quad, leaving him unable to walk without assistance. From that point in October, our lives took a turn. He was finally admitted for surgery in November 2024, just before Thanksgiving. When they went in to do his surgery, the anesthesiologist had an EKG done, which later revealed my father suffered a silent heart attack and had no idea until that moment. His knee surgery was canceled as his heart took precedence. They tried to place a stent only to find out that he had 2 major blockages, both 100%. He was immediately scheduled for open-heart surgery that following Monday, December 2, 2024. He had the open-heart surgery performed as they had to do a triple bypass. Shortly after surgery, it was discovered my father was non-responsive on the left side of his body, which was cause for concern, so they took him in for a CT scan where they discovered he was having a stroke. They went in and found the blood clot causing the problem and removed it promptly. Two days after that, on December 4, 2024, he had to undergo another surgery due to major swelling in his brain; he had to have a decompressive craniectomy. So in the matter of 2 days, my father had 3 major surgeries. After his stay in the ICU, he was moved to a rehabilitation facility to help him begin his journey of improvement so he can come home. He is working with physical therapists, occupational therapists, as well as a speech therapist.

My father was the person in the house paying the more major bills. As I'm sure many can imagine, this has taken a hard toll on my mother and me as we have had to step up and combine our income (which is still less than what he made) to be able to pay the bills. This is not to mention the amount of hospital bills we have for my father's many tests and surgeries, as well as his rehab stay. If you can, we would greatly appreciate anything; if you can't, we understand, but please at least share this and get his story out. The rehab facility he was recently transferred to is, for lack of better words, horrible. We would like to be able to bring him home and continue care with the help of his medical team.

Thank you for your time reading through this long story. Any and all help is appreciated. Please say a prayer for my father and for my family.
