Support Roland Roberts Band's Far-West Conference

Greetings Friends,

We are the Roland Roberts Band, and we have all spent a majority of our lives fantasizing about pursuing our musical dreams. We’ve spent the last few years bringing a joyful musical experience to Alaska with Roland Roberts on vocals, Matthew Wallace on drums, Matthew Faubion on lead guitar/mandolin, Garrett Monroe on bass, and we can't wait to take our performance outside. The first stage will be to represent Alaska in the Far-West Folk Alliance International Conference in Woodland Hills, California, from 12–15 October 2023.

It might surprise you to hear that historically our band has financed tour expenses, and have reinvested all revenue available to replace gear or transport our team. Thank you to the fans for suggesting we apply for an Alaska Performing Arts grant to obtain the cash needed to realize our strategic goals of expanding to the west coast. Perhaps next year, when audiences in the west know and adore us as much as you do, we will be able to acquire a grant, but financing was not available this year. We are your band, our devoted friends, family, and supporters. We are grateful for the support we receive from our fans and are committed to sharing our love for music to audiences outside of Alaska for the first time.

The Plan: Roland will travel out of Alaska on his first West Coast Tour at the end of September. Playing solo gigs as he travels from Alaska to California in the band van (Vanna). The rest of the band will fly into San Jose to meet up and play two shows in the Bay Area before loading into the van and traveling to the Far-West Folk Conference in Los Angeles. During the conference, we obtained three full-band showcases and three individual showcases. We believe we are the only band representing Alaska, and your support will allow us to prepare and focus exclusively on our musical endeavors.

We have several expenses in making this conference a reality, including:

Airfare. ≈ $1,500

Conference Fees ≈ $1,000

Lodging ≈ $1,500

Transportation. ≈ $500

F&B. ≈ $500

Total ≈ $5,000
