Support Rojean's Journey to Restore Her Smile

Hello. My name is Rojean Wilt. I'm 46 years old with 3 beautiful children and 4 amazing grandbabies. 4 years ago this month I was diagnosed with stage 4 Squamious Cell Carcinoma of the tounge and neck. I had surgery to remove the cancer which included a partial glysectomy ( lost most of my tounge) and a neck dissection to remove cancer from my lymphnodes. Because the cancer was in my mouth and the extent of after treatment I needed, they also had to remove all my teeth. Finally after 4 years I've been approved for implant surgery to finally get my teeth back. Due to having my tounge removed I can only have bottom implants and a top traditional denture. Also due to cost. My dental insurance will only cover 1,000. Total was 17,000 without insurance. I have the write up also from the cosmetic dentist showing the charges and what they are for. Had this been done the first year of diagnosis then my insurance would have paid for it 100% however I was not healed enough. For 3 years I went to appointment after appointment to inquire when I could finally have this done. No dentist wanted to touch me due to the damage from radiation. My surgeon never gave up and we finally have a plan and it's been set in motion. I have been given a grant from the hospital for the post placement as it cannot be done in an office. It must be done at the hospital and by my cancer surgeon. He knows where I have bone to hold the posts and will be taking care of me. Now I have figure out the rest. I've applied and searched for grants for implants and so has my cancer after care team. Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of help. As much as I don't want to ask for help I just cannot float this on my own. I am saving every penny I can but I have 3 months to come up with the payment for my new teeth so they can begin to make them while I recover from physical therapy and from the post surgery. Radiation and scar tissue have effected the opening space that I have in my mouth and physical therapy is slowly giving me back full range of motion in my jaw. I am not expecting miracles but I belive in blessings and try to always do my part to bless others as well. Anything and everything I'm able to raise here is going straight to making myself whole again. Cancer is a beast and it has robbed me of my self esteem....mentally kicked my butt and stole my smile. I just want to close this chapter in my life and smile again. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
