Support Roger's Intensive Care Battle

Donation protected
I'm starting this GoFundMe to help with continued medical expenses relating to our dad, Roger Elscott. He celebrated his birthday on March 16, and 2 days later he had a silent heart attack. He was taken to the hospital where he has been since March 18. He was scheduled for a double bypass open-heart surgery on March 24. His heart stopped on the morning of March 19, where they performed CPR for 7-8 minutes and were able to revive him. He was moved to CCU where he eventually had a breathing tube put in and was put on continuous dialysis. As many know, he is a Type 2 diabetic and has been for many years. He made it through his open-heart surgery on Monday, March 24, and was in ICU for recovery. On March 29, he had to have emergency surgery to remove part of his small intestine as it was causing an infection in his body. That surgery was very hard on his heart; they had to shock his heart 4 times in the OR to get it back into rhythm, and after moving back to ICU, his heart was shocked 2 more times. He has been in ICU since March 24. During his stay, he had surgery 3 times, he has had a breathing tube put in and taken out 3 times. He had a trach put in on April 4. His blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels are up and down depending on the day. He has been on heart and blood pressure medicine off and on since that day. His blood sugar is hard to keep at a normal level, so he is on and off an insulin drip (vs. regular insulin). He has had many CT scans, ultrasounds, and an MRI. They tried the HD dialysis (machine that runs 3 hours a day), but his heart doesn't always agree, so they have moved back to continuous dialysis. The last conversation we've had with Dad was March 27/28. Since then, he has been resting, as his body is very weak trying to fight different infections. He has been on 2 antibiotics and an anti-fungal since March 29. Physical Therapy will try once a day to sit him bedside, but they have to hold up his head and support his back. They have him on a feeding tube, which he isn't tolerating either; he keeps getting sick. He gets some nutrition by IV, but they keep trying through the feeding tube. I have kept daily notes as to what his day was like any time a doctor has spoken with us. I could almost write a book on what he has been through in these last 4 weeks, and it's still going to be a very long road for recovery.
